week 2 assignment

I found this book in the Walden Library - Teaching to the Brains Natural Learning Sytems Author - Barbara K Given.
I think this book has a very good explanation to the overall process of how the brain learns.
This book divides the brains natural learning system into 5 learning systems: Emotional, Social, Cognitive, Physical and Reflective. Each Chapter explains the learning system in some depth and how they affect the students behavior and how we as teachers can facilitate or inhibit such behariors as passion for learning and vision for seeing possibilities.
The book is available through Walden's ebrary reader http://site.ebrary.com/lib/waldenu/search.action?p00=brain+and+learning

I also ran across this website http://www.acceleratedlearning.com/method/test_flash.html under the brain and learning search I did in google. The site itself is propaganda for a product called Master it faster but the test is free and I confirmed what I had diagnosed myself from our class as far as how I learn. It's a fun thing to do in your spare time.

This wikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Problem-based_learning is a good starting point for finding resources about problem solving learning methods. I am interested in this topic because it is one of the ways I learned best as a project manager and team lead. When presented with a problem I collaborated with my team on ways to resolve the problem and sometimes used the trial and error approach until we found the best solution.

  1. Hello Bobbiea,

I also visited the Problem-Based-Learning (PBL) page on wikipedia and found it to be very informative. I think PBL is a terrific teaching model but I don't feel confident that I could determine the learning environment in which it would be most effective.

That's what I am seeking through this degree; the ability to assess learners, material to be learned, teaching models, then put it all together in a nice tech-enriched package. - ha ha

What are you seeking from this degree?
